GARAGE celebrates five stylish years!

GARAGE held a fashion ball in REPUBLIQ last August 29 in celebration of its fifth anniversary. The event was attended by the most stylish denizens of the metro eager to see the reunion of the men’s style magazine’s best-dressed list for the past years as well as this year’s roster.

Since its inception, GARAGE has become an integral part in shaping the taste and knowledge of Filipino men in the realm of fashion—providing a dossier on the latest trends in men’s style and grooming as well as dispensing inspiration through its avant-garde fashion editorials. Representative of these stylish Filipino men is best personified by GARAGE’s past best-dressed list which includes prominent male personalities like Piolo Pascual, Dingdong Dantes, Jake Cuenca, Sam Milby and more.

The highlight of GARAGE Anniversary Ball reunites some of these past best-dressed men as well as this year’s group of fashion savvy personalities.

The year’s best-dressed list includes Kean Cipriano, Robby Mananquil, Frank Magalona, Jigs Mayuga, Bang Pineda and Nix Pernia.

August issue cover star and best-dressed awardee, Enchong Dee was present to kick off the night’s festivities,

which was then capped with a fashion show directed by Robbie Carmona and sponsored by clothing brand, RRJ.

The theme of the evening was PUNK ROCK and guests were seen donning their leather jackets, studded belts, shiny boots and spiked accessories.

The August anniversary issue features Enchong Dee in a special fashion editorial interpreting this year’s motif. The issue is dubbed as a collector’s item because it comes with a special commemorative issue featuring the past best-dressed shot specifically for the issue. Also included are unpublished photos from the magazine’s five-year history.

Since it's Throwback Thursday, I will do a product review on the first ever whitening soap I tried and known to be the First Filipino pure organic herbal soap. ♥

Here is a throwback photo when I was only 11 years old back when we still lived in Honolulu, Hawaii. Now do not think I have a superficial white skin, I have genes with natural light skin, but whitening products did help me achieved a fairer skin.

This is me when I was only 4 years old. I had a natural fair skin.

Nope! I did not have any surgery, my nose was flat when I was young but at somehow improved a little bit, pulling it many times helps! The only surgery I badly need now is for my nasal polyp and varicose veins. (Parang si Chichay starring Kathryn Bernardo sa Got to Believe In Magic Teleserye currently airing, Yes I did that I been putting sipit on my nose, Lol!)

I guess living in Hawaii makes your skin tan with the beautiful beaches and the lovely weather. Awww... I miss my childhood memories in Hawaii. After all, Hawaii is considered by many to be the closest thing to paradise on earth- for good reason.

Hawaii has a tropical climate. The sun is very strong in Hawaii and when you are young you just do not care about your skin or complexion and in the US they even preferred tan skin but when I reached my teenage years and when I went back to the Philippines, I start becoming conscious on my skin and how I want my fair skin back.

My older sister was the one who introduced me to Likas Papaya Skin Whitening Herbal Soap and I think until now she is using it and even introduced it to her husband that is also fond of using it because it helps his pimples. They are currently living in the States and they would even asked someone to send Likas Papaya Soap from here in the Philippines or they buy it in the Oriental Stores in the States which they buy a lot more expensive than here.

I used this soap since I was 13 years old until I was about 21 years old then I stopped using it and tried other brands.

But I can still remember that they had to change the packaging and or until now be careful with FAKE Likas Papaya Soap because it has been so popular in the 90's that a lot of imitation came out in the market.

How tell if Likas Papaya Soap is real?

It should have the hologram printing on the box. It should be sealed or look like it was opened or tampered with. The soap should be orange and have the carving of the symbol that is displayed on the box on one side and with the other side.

WHAT I THINK? For more than 8 years of using Likas Papaya Skin Whitening Herbal Soap, I must say it is effective on giving you the natural fair skin but it did took me awhile to see the results and I did not achieved that extreme whitening and snow-white like dream of mine, I actually tried using the soap again when I was 26, but instead it just made my skin darker, a lot of people had been noticing how I became darker because while I was using it I was also exposing myself to the sun, which made me sensitive to sunlight.

TIP: Wear high SPF or avoid exposing yourself to the sun. Do not forget to apply a good moisturizer because it makes the skin feel tight and dry.

WILL I BUY THIS AGAIN? No, I love it when I was younger but it is just not working for me anymore.

WILL I RECOMMEND THIS? Yes. It's really recommended and excellent for acne.

Hajimemashite! meaning How do you do?

Dining at a Japanese Restaurant just make me want to visit Japan more, I really miss my childhood days back when we will go on vacation to Japan with great food and the kawaii stuffs.

It's funny when people I just met thought that my husband's last name is Kawasaki and I was formerly Ms. Rivera, so just to inform everyone is the other way around. Lol! I can still understand a little bit of Japanese as being half and half and growing up going on vacation in Japan every year, I even tried to study in a Japanese language school here in the Philippines but I guess if you do not really use the language you will just forget about it. ♥ Nope, we do not own the Kawasaki Motorcycle or Company but how I really wish we did.

I was invited to have a food tasting at IKKORYU FUKUOKA RAMEN in Rockwell last August 23, Friday for dinner. There was a lot of people dining at the time and it was really full house with long line waiting. We are so much grateful that we have been still accommodated for some fun food tasting.

Ramen is a Japanese staple and considered Soul food by young and old alike in Japan and all over the world.

Tonkotsu Ramen, a very popular regional style of ramen, is a specialty of its origin Kyushu region in Japan. It is characterized by thin, straight noodles in rich creamy pork broth, which is the result of boiling pork bones with several seasonings for many hours to ensure the rich pork extract and hearty flavour.

IKKORYU FUKUOKA RAMEN in Rockwell is small but I really love the wall painting with a great story and meaning to it. ♥

This is a must try! I love the sauce to dip your gyoza on it, soo good, ahhh!!!... It has a tasty dumpling filled with minced pork and chives that has a nicely toasted texture and juicy on the inside.

Upon ordering the Ramen noodles, You will be asked if you want your noodles soft, medium, hard or very hard? Yup, as for me I like it Al dente.

My least favorite, it was just not my liking for my taste buds but it was definitely the best seller! If you love garlic and enjoy strong flavors in your ramen then I would recommend this!

Spicy Tobanjan Tonkotsu P380

Ramen with spicy Tobanjan paste, resulting in an absolutely appetizing and wholesome flavour.

My second favorite, If you love spicy foods like me, then you will surely enjoy and love this!

Gochisou sama deshita ♥

If you want your ramen more enjoyable here are some tips:

STEP 1. Once ramen is served, inhale rich aroma of tonkotsu soup wafting out from the bowl. It must be most appetizing moment!

STEP 2. Gently scoop up soup with spoon and take a first sip. Pause and take a moment to enjoy truly indulgent taste of tonkotsu soup.

STEP 3. Start tasting noodle. Fully dip the noodles into tonkotsu soup, and slurp it up! Noise of slurping "zu zu zu..." sounds are considered courteous in Japanese custom.

STEP 4.For more authentic CHIKUHO local way of eating, lightly powder grained sesame seeds and/or add a little of red ginger pickles into soup. This finely spices up a bowl to make the experience even more exquisite.

STEP 5.After finishing the noodles, put rice into soup to enjoy the last pleasurable drops of the soup!

I will definitely would like to eat here again soon! In fact it took me awhile to do the review because I was really craving for some more. For me, Ikkoryu has one of the best ramen noodles in town. Perfect for the rainy season now!
