Dreaming of having an afternoon of tea and French bread in Paris? I thought I was one day when I got invited at the very sophisticated L’artisan Café in Serendra, Bonifacio Global City for a French-inspired #LOrealSwatchandShoot event.
Together with other bloggers/vloggers and beauty enthusiasts, I was transported to Paris where magnificence and fashion are definitely a thing. Indeed, the combination of the café’s gorgeousness and L’Oreal Makeup Designer/Paris is both awe-inspiring and intimate. I loved every bit of it!

L’Oreal Swatch and Shoot event introduced new shades and range of products that every Filipina would adore. I have always been a fan of L’Oreal beauty products, especially the make-up, and I absolutely enjoyed trying them on I thought I couldn’t stop myself. The natural glow L’Oreal gave me is something I wanted to have every single day. Nudes are trending now, the simpler the better. I felt beautiful and confident because the shades are easily wearable.

Let’s take a look at some of them…

Color Riche La Palette Nude (Php 800)
This is the newest eye shadow palette collection from L’Oreal Paris. If you are like me who is challenged when it comes to blending colors, this is the perfect palette to experiment with. Each stylish palette offers 10 nude tones specially curated by L’Oreal makeup designers, allowing you to create infinite sophisticated eye looks in natural finish. The light and dark colors flatter every skin tone. The expert eye-designer brush and mirror palette comes in Rose (10 pink-nude shades) and Beige (10 brown-nude shades). This is certainly a must-have!
True Match Genius (Php 600)
Before putting on eye makeup, blush on and lipstick, we are used to start with a primer, foundation, concealer and powder. This smart makeup is the first 4-in-1 compact foundation by L’Oreal Paris for effortlessly beautiful skin anytime, anywhere. If you are the on-the-go type, you’ll love the smartphone-inspired sleek and slim packaging. Be stylish with one instead of four separate products. With its oil-free base, the cream-to-powder formula of True Match Genius brings a professional finish in six shades.

False Lash Superstar Mascara (Php 500) and Superstar Liner (Php 400)
Short and thin lashes? No problem. This international and award-winning mascara will help you achieve super-long, super-thick, superstar eye lashes in two easy steps. The double-ended mascara can do it all. First, put some volume on your lashes by using the supersizing primer, which has 7 types of extraordinary oils that thickens each lash and help with growth. Finally, extend and lift your lash with the super-lengthening, fiber-rich coat mascara brush. The secret is on the extra dose of fibers in a glossy-black formula.

To emphasize your superstar eyes further, use the super-flexible and super black Superstar Liner. It has a unique corseted applicator that gives the precise deep black line in just one stroke – no mistakes, no mess! Getting the superstar look has never been that quick and easy!
BROW ARTIST CHISEL STRAIGHT (Php 400)
Say goodbye to thin arched brows, and flaunt the straight brow trend with the new Brow Artist Chisel Straight, our first ever 2-in-1 brow mascara and liner. In just one application, it plumps up the eyebrows and gives a straight, fluffly brow effect for a young and natural look.
The secret lies in its unique chisel applicator that combines a mascara brush to fluff each brow hair, and a precise applicator tip at the end to shape the straight brow. For the most natural finish, it has a quick-dry formula that leaves a velvety matte look and weightless feel on the brows. Get the straight brow trend in just one application with Brow Artist Chisel Straight in Fashionista Marron (light brown) or Effortless Mahogany (Dark Brown).

Lippies, my personal favorite!

Color Riche Matte Reds (Php 400)
Cosmo.ph did a test on 200 lipsticks, glosses, stains, balms, tints, and scrubs to find out which ones stand out from the rest. Guess who bagged two of the honors from this very first Cosmo.ph Lippie Awards?

Both belong to this L’Oreal Color Riche Matte Reds collection – Pure Garnet and Pure Rouge in the Best Dark Colors and Best Reds categories, respectively. You know you will never go wrong with these shades. Pure Garnet is a best-seller because of its deep wine color that looks flattering on all skin tones. According to Cosmo.ph, Pure Rouge is the kind of red that can be wearable during the day, and it gives the perfect vampy look when built up further. These ultra-comfortable neutral matte reds don’t feel dry at all and can last all day.
Color Riche Velvet Pinks “La Vie En Rose” (Php 400)
Get that youthful look with the 7 delicate shades of Color Riche Velvet Pinks. If you’re afraid to wear pink, don’t worry because each shade is custom-made to fit every Filipina skin tone to complement the natural pink shade of the lips. Discover the perfect velvet-matte pink for your skin tone with this newest collection and bring light and freshness to your look.
I found all of the colors attractive but this shade stood out for me – L’Oreal Color Riche Velvet Pinks in Nymphea.
This was the exact same shade that Solenn Heusaff wore on her wedding day. This natural pink shade is now on my favorite lippies collection.
L’Oreal Paris always exceeds expectations when it comes to producing beautiful collections such as these. You have to get these affordable world-class products from L’Oreal in your makeup kit to prep yourself up for a nude-look days and nights. It’s your time to shine!

Products are exclusively imported and distributed by L’Oréal Philippines makeup counters nationwide. For more information about L’Oréal Makeup Designer/Paris, visit www.facebook.com/LorealParisPhilippines.

One of my worst experiences was when my son, Niko, was diagnosed of dengue fever a couple of years ago. I think everyone would agree with me if I say that losing someone we love could be our greatest fear. At least for me, it is.

I’m always worried sick whenever my kids don’t feel well. Imagine how scared I was when Niko’s temperature sky-rocketed and I could almost feel his discomfort all throughout. As we know, there’s no known cure for this dreaded viral illness. It was like a nightmare, I cried everyday seeing him suffer and go through tests and a lot of hospital visits. If I could only get those needles away from him, I would. His blood count needed to be monitored, thus a series of CBC and Dengue Duo tests was performed. It was a very traumatic experience for all of us.

I knew I could have done something to keep him away from dengue but I realized I just have to be strong and help him fight it while it’s not too late. Being a blogger mom, I have been doing research, reading a lot of stuff, and talking to a lot of people, you think I already know every must-do and must-have to be a perfect mother. I tell you, I wish I do. But we can only do so much, right? There are situations that could really get out of our hands. The real deal? There are things we can control, but also things we can’t – like dengue fever. We just have to manage our way out of it.
Dengue fever, considered to be a global phenomenon due to the number of cases reported, is a viral illness spread by the dengue mosquito (Aedes Aegypti), which can be found in many tropical countries around the world such as ours. Symptoms include high fever, headache, vomiting, joint pains and skin rashes. If not addressed right away, it can develop to severe dengue hemorrhagic, which is life-threatening. The thing is medicines like aspirin and ibuprofen may have harmful side effects. Calpol is Paracetamol, and it is the only recommended treatment for fever caused by dengue virus.
Paracetamol Calpol is every mom’s partner in providing effective and quick relief from fever.
-Clinically proven to relieve 6 types of pain and fever: 1. headache
2. sore throat
3. fever and pain
4. toothache
5. muscle ache
6. musculoskeletal pain

To intensify awareness, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) launched its campaign Allied Against Dengue at The Peninsula Manila. GSK, the maker of doctor-recommended Calpol, is one of the world’s leading research-based pharmaceutical and healthcare companies. It has partnered with other organizations here in the country such as the Department of Health (DOH), Philippine Pharmacists Association, Inc. (PPHA), Mercury Drug Corporation (MDC), Smart Parenting and CNN Philippines. The movement aims to empower everyone to be able to combine preventive and control measures by spreading awareness on dengue management.
Present in the event were celebrity mom Jolina Magdangal-Escueta
and Mommy blogger Rowena Wendy Lei (Animetric's World), who both shared their experiences and ways to protect their families from dengue. They also joined other representatives from the Allied Against Dengue and partner organizations in the symbolic hand-painting ceremony.

To be successful, Allied Against Dengue will have train-the-trainer programs, organized information centers through partner networks, community education activations and employee volunteers.

Here are some of Allied Against Dengue’s initiatives:

• Distribution of 50,000 DOH primers to at least 5 public schools in Dengue hotspots in Metro Manila.

• Distribution of 15,000 leaflets to 1,000 pediatricians and general practitioners

• Education and proper Dengue fever prevention and management to 20 health centers for Barangay outreach programs.

• Implementation of Continues Pharmacy Education (CPE) Program in identified chapters, targeting 200 pharmacists.

• Education and recruitment of at least 1,000 Allies Against Dengue through employee engagement, online and on ground activations.

We can all help this movement to fight dengue. I will definitely be part of this. I will do everything in my power to keep my precious sons safe from dengue.

If you want to know more about Calpol and its dengue campaign, you can visit www.calpol.com.ph and like their Facebook page Calpol Philippines.

SALU. When I first heard about it, I thought it was derived from the word "salo-salo" or another word from another dialect of equivalent meaning. FYI, SALU stands for Sinag, Alab, Lahi, Ugnayan- very Filipino and "makabayan", right? The idea of this certified Filipino restaurant is definitely overwhelming. I have been to a lot of restaurants but this is one-of-a-kind because it brings you to all over the Philippines without any plane ride! You will be transported in this gastronomic experience. You'll surely be curious. I was. Now, I'm in awe!
Restaurant owners Romnick Sarmienta and Harlene Bautista.

The delicately designed establishments is divided into three parts based on the 3 main islands of the Philippines- Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
It's like home away from home. Truly, it will not only get your attention but also your heart.

Even the walls showcase Filipino heritage recognizing our hardworking farmers, poultry providers, fishermen, and local craftsmen as heroes.

It's like a reminder that they are the source of the delicious feast on the table. In fact, SALU supports advocacy programs for our kababayans in this industry with the help of some partners.
Even the kiddie corner gives you the traditional Pinoy kid experience. I love that it promotes the good-old-day's culture and customs when way of life was way simpler. You can find sari-sari store where kids and kids-at-heart can enjoy Stick-O, Mik-Mik, and other snacks.
The resto also offers street foods such as fishballs, squidballs, and kikiam. Tusok-tusok is the way! And fruits like mango, singkamas and santol.
SALU is a Filipino Culinary Authority. We try to explore, experiment and make sure to serve plates that can't be labeled anything other than tunay na Pinoy. We honor originality and give tribute to the story of each dish because that's what makes it unique, that's what makes it real Filipino", said Chef Janjie Ocoma, also known as Lakwatserong Kusinero, the executive chef of the restaurant.

We want the whole restaurant to feel casual and homey. When you enter a Filipino home there's always a feeling of warmth and happiness, that's our basic model for SALU. -said Mr. Allan Cordova, Managing Partner of SALU.

True to its promise, SALU amazed me! Every dish has a unique and surprising twist. The famous regional cuisines include Insarabasab and Hardinera ni Quezon for Luzon, Balbacua and KBL which stands for Kadios, Baboy, Langka are classic favorites in Visayas and Mindanao boasts of its Tiyual Itum, a signature black soup and Beef Kulma, the island's version of curry. You can explore the menu for more trivia about the dishes.

Filipinos are naturally artistic and creative, even with food inventions. Their "Likhang Salu" will make you wonder how the fusion of different tatak-Pinoy gastronomies can be so palatable. Must try!

Durian Cheesecake are perfect panghimagas!
A must try dessert that recently launched is the Molten lava cake, Mayon. It has a really good salty surprise inside which gives a twist to that rich dark chocolate cake and filling. It's not part of the regular menu, so make sure to ask your waiter for it on your visit.
My personal favorite is the Salu Salad, it's such a tasty garden. I never thought flowers can be edible and appetizing!
Fall in love with the food and culture all over again by visiting SALU at #26B Sct. Fernandez Cor. Sct. Torillo, Bgy. Sacred Heart Quezon City. For reservations and inquiries, call at 921-2448 or send a personal message on their Facebook fanpage https://www.facebook.com/Saluresto/

Reaching fitness goals proved to be twice the fun with a partner, as thousands ran in pairs for Robinsons Supermarket's 9th Fit and Fun Wellness Buddy Run, held recently at Bonifacio Global City.

This is my third year to run. I always look forward to running every year because I love the way it makes me feel healthier and happier.

But of course my favorite part of running at the Fit and Fun Wellness Buddy Run is that after finishing the race, runners will get to bring home a huge shopping bag filled with groceries and there are lots of exciting booths and activities.

Power couples graced the run, with Gretchen Ho and Robi Domingo hosting the event, and Coaches Jim and Toni Saret leading the warm-up and post-run cool-down exercises. Around 4,500 runners joined the 5K and 10K races, including triathlete and 28th SEA Games Gold Medalist Nikko Huelgas.
Top finishers each took home exciting prizes. The 2nd and 3rd placers of the 5K run received P8,000 worth of Robinsons gift certificates, while 10K runners got P15,000 worth of Robinsons GCs.

The 1st  placer of the 5K run won a 3D/2N trip with accommodations for two to El Nido, Palawan and the 10K winner received a 3D/2N trip for two to Bali, Indonesia with accommodations.

The 9th Fit and Fun Wellness Buddy Run was made possible by RSC's wellness partners, Nestle Philippines, Johnson & Johnson, Nivea and Fonterra, among others, all of which share RSC's mission to provide more health and wellness options.
