Celebrate Food at #SMStreetfoodFestival2016

Filipinos are natural food-lovers. May it be local delicacies or international cuisines, we simply go for it. I guess we’re all adventurous that way. When we visit a certain place, we don’t just explore the famous landmarks or buy souvenirs. Guaranteed, we won’t be able to resist our taste buds from having a gastronomical adventure. I don’t know about you, but I can speak for myself. I. LOVE. TO. EAT.

Our country can never go out of style when it comes to food choices. I once heard from someone, “Filipinos are so creative that almost nothing goes to waste when we cook.” We can invent and come up with the weirdest recipe out of any ingredients. Take a whole chicken and you’ll realize that you can actually eat every part of it from the head to its feet. Not convinced yet?
Just think of the most popular street food as an example - my favorite isaw is the chicken’s intestines.
I believe that whole use-everything idea gave birth to the street food sensation. Food hawkers and stalls are in every corner nowadays. It is a cultural and economic phenomenon that’s made hearty food accessible to everyone.
And it’s no longer limited to barbecue
Amusing as it may seem, we now have betamax, bato, helmet, chicken feet, tokneneng, fishballs, kikiam, and a lot more.

The street food family has indeed grown bigger and bigger. We now have tapsihan that offers all kinds of “silog” combinations, burger stands, lugawan, and carinderia that serves “lutong-bahay” meals.

Making turo-turo, tusok-tusok and takal-takal bring a different kind of rush. We can enjoy the food while it’s still hot, it is budget-friendly, and great tasting!
To highlight our rich food culture, SM Hypermarket started the annual Streetfood Festival on August 31, 2016.

A lot of big brands namely UnileverLady's ChoiceNestleSan MiguelMagnolia, DeliMondo, Del MonteTulipAlaskaP&G, Purefoods, Farm Fresh, CDOFrabelleMaggi, Joy, Mama Sitas,

and Bounty Fresh participated to celebrate the streetfood madness. This gathering didn’t only feature the best-selling items but also the Filipino talents who make them.

I was very happy to be able to eat my favorite streetfood without worrying about sanitation and enduring the scorching heat of the sun. As expected, the event was overflowing with delicious local favorites and new partakers like
Cebu Lechon Belly
Southern Dairy

Banchetto’s Crepes
Takoyaki and Bacon-wrapped delights
SM MARKETS EATS!
the best-selling SM Markets Eats! Turon with Langka for only Php15 and more.

My tummy wasn’t the only part of me that got so full. SM Hypermarket made sure that everyone will take home kitchen ideas from the cooking demos of distinguished chefs including Chef Boy Logro.
I’m always amazed whenever he does his exhibitions and teaches his techniques in the kitchen. It’s your chance to see him live in every SM venue.

Not only that, it’s a great opportunity to do some groceries because there are a lot of discounts and promo bundles. If you’re up for some fun games and win some exciting prizes with the entire family, then you have to visit the festival, too.
