Let’s face it, internet is becoming one of our basic needs. And as with all the other basic needs, it comes with a price. Luckily, our internet providers have been stepping up their game into making it more affordable.

There’s a new product from Globe called Prepaid Home Wi-Fi. It is the most affordable 1GB data promo ever.  Starting at just 15 pesos, families can enjoy more data. This promo can easily be added on top of GoSURF50. Customers can register for HomeSURF15 as many times as they want as long as their GoSURF promo is valid.

Heavy data users can also enjoy bigger data allocations like 10GB of data for P349 valid for 10 days, and 15GB of data for P599 valid for 30 days.

As per Globe at Home SVP, Matha Sazon, “with Globe at Home Prepaid Wifi, more Filipino homes can enjoy fast and reliable internet connection. The new HomeSURF promo, lets customers surf more-from social media to onlinve videos- all at an affordable price.”.

The Globe at Home Wifi is priced at P1999. It is a one-time payment and all you have to do is top up whenever you need internet.

The installation is fairly easy and very straightforward. The first thing you need to do is plug in the Wi-Fi modem.

Then you have to access its IP address through your phone or computer and open the Wi-Fi setting. From there you could set up your preferred Wi-Fi name and password. Lastly, you have to top up your account or activate your free 10GB data by clicking SMS in the Wi-Fi settings and sending FREE10GB to 8080.  After those 3 easy steps, you are ready to go and browse the internet.

The Wi-Fi modem comes with a Globe sim with its number written on its back. You can top up your Wi-Fi just like you would load your Globe prepaid sims.

Here are the available promos and available services for Globe Prepaid Home Wifi Internet Data:

GoSURF 15/ P15/ 40 MB/ 2 days

GoSURF 50/ P50/ 1 GB/ 3 days

GoSURF 299/ P299/ 1.5 GB/ 30 days
GoSURF 599/ P599/ 4 GB/ 30 days
GoSURF 999/ P999/ 8 GB/ 30 days

You can also manage your data by downloading the Globe Home-fi App on google play. It’s not yet available on the app store but I’m pretty sure it’s coming  in the near future.

The best thing about this product is how easy and convenient it is. You won’t have to process an application just to get your hands on it. And you won’t have to worry about monthly bills! You can just get internet when you need it!

The router is also very compact and well designed. I can bring and use  it anywhere as long as there is an available power outlet.

The internet speed depends on your location. I had a great success in getting a decent download speed of 26mbps when I tried it in Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar in Bataan.

Blue Water Day Spa, the renowned leader in ultimate pampering and rejuvenation, helps you achieve and maintain that balanced state of well-being through its wide, varied range of treatments. From intensely rejuvenating massages to deep cleansing facials, and sculpting and toning treatments that help you maintain your toned physique, Blue Water Day Spa helps you address all the symptoms of stress and gives you that boost you need to get you through the week.

With several branches located in around the metro, Blue Water Day Spa also offers its discerning clientele relaxing respites in the city where they can de-stress and pamper themselves.

And just in time for this holiday season, Blue Water Day Spa proudly presents its roster of ambassadors: Michelle Dee, Harry Morris, Fabio Ide, Ara Arida and Christian Bautista.

The youthful Michelle Dee has a lot to deal with these days, a hectic schedule and so much more. And the stress of the daily grind ultimately affects her well-being, causing headaches, neck strains and pains in her lower back. To help soothe the symptoms caused by stress, Michelle turns to Blue Water Day Spa’s Combo Herbal Massage. Using a soothing blend of essential oils, the deep tissue massage helps to work out the tensions in the back and neck. “After just one session, you feel looser and more relaxed. You’ll definitely feel that you’re ready to take on another day!” shares Michelle.

A multi-awarded artist and actor, Christian Bautista has to divide his hours, recording at the studio and shooting for his back-to-back shows. The long production days and the stress on set oftentimes makes him binge on junk food. “Which, of course, affects my weight and my mindset. When I eat junk food, I feel lethargic and don’t quite have the energy,” he says.  For this, he uses the Blue Water Day Spa Therapeutic Colonic Massage. It is the latest method of losing weight, and it gives Christian that boost of energy. “It makes you relax, and it helps tone the body. I combine this with exercise and eating right, and after a few sessions, you’ll see impressive results,” he shares. “The Colonic Massage also helps get rid of the blockages and impurities in your system, so you instantly feel lighter and freer.”

Ariella “Ara” Arida, Miss Universe 2013- Third Runner Up, understands the importance of looking your best, and so despite no longer competing for the crown, she invests time and effort in maintaining her toned physique and youthful looks. To help her look camera-ready, Ara schedules her Blue Water Day Spa Y-Lift treatments regularly. The Y Lift treatment, a combination facial and skin treatment, helps to reduce the signs of skin-aging and gently “lifts” the face for that youthful look. “When it comes to my body, I try to eat clean and live healthy, and complement that with my Y-Lift treatments which gives me that radiant glow and smooth complexion,” she says.

Blue Water Day Spa has numerous other treatments for different body issues and has treatments that complement the different lifestyles of its customers. For active individuals and athletes like Fabio Ide and Harry Morris, they turn to Blue Water Day Spa’s Athlete Massage to help soothe the aches in their muscles.

Harry Morris, a player of the Philippine Volcanoes (rugby team), often pushes his body to the limits, going through intense trainings and games regularly. “After training or a rough game, my muscles and joints hurt a lot. When I get the Athlete’s Massage, I’ve noticed that my recovery time gets cut in half,” he says.

Fabio Ide, entrepreneur and model, agrees with Morris, adding, “Your body is like a well-oiled machine, so you have to make sure it gets the upkeep it needs. This massage does incredibly well in making sure that you stay at the top of your game and that you enjoy that range of motion painlessly.”

Whether it’s to look more beautiful, to speed up recovery time, or to just simply pamper yourself after a long, hard week of work, Blue Water Day Spa is here to help you relax and rejuvenate anytime.

If you have been following my blogs, especially those stories about my sons, you already know that my Niko had dengue twice. I am an over-protective mom, but there are things that can really get out of our control. As I have mentioned before, being a blogger mom and having access to a lot of information don’t exempt me from experiencing how dreadful it is to deal with this illness. Just like you momshies, I can only do so much.

Since then, I have been participating in spreading awareness about dengue. I have learned from my previous experience that we can’t be complacent, but we have to trust our instincts as parents in making the right decisions when dengue strikes.

Dengue is a serious viral infection transmitted from one person to another by the Aedes mosquito, principally Aedes aegypti. Symptoms include high fever, headache, vomiting, joint pains and skin rashes. If not addressed right away, it can develop to severe dengue hemorrhagic, which is life-threatening.

We may not realize it, but dengue is the number one health concern in the Southeast Asia region, outranking Zika and HIV. It is considered as the fastest spreading viral disease in the world. Roughly 500,000 people a year require hospitalization from a severe form of the disease, 2.5% of whom die.
Southeast Asia has the highest prevalence of dengue, with 2.9 million sufferers and 5,906 deaths.

According to the SEA Dengue Survey commissioned by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Consumer Healthcare, 73% worry about dengue, but only one-third feel prepared and in control. Majority still thought that dengue is curable, and that antibiotics are needed to manage symptoms. Sadly, only 28% of Filipino respondents are aware that paracetamol is the only recommended medication for dengue fever management as stated by the World Health Organization (WHO). And a low 19% know that dengue can be detected on the first day of infection and that most parents would only visit the doctor when fever persists up to 3 days. On the other hand, more than half of parents are confident that they would be able to diagnose their children with dengue, which may lead to misdiagnosis and place children at greater risk. The survey revealed that 95% of Filipinos are interested to learn more about dengue, and almost all parents feel schools should play a role in educating students about the disease.

* The survey involved over 3,000 respondents aged 18 and above from across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and Philippines.

“It is alarming that a large proportion of the population are misinformed about dengue management. This emphasizes the greater need for education,” says Debjit Rudra, Area General Manager for Southeast Asia, GSK Consumer Healthcare.

GSK founded Allied Against Dengue (AAD), an open movement initiated by public and private institutions with a mission to reduce the impact of the disease on society. The results of the survey are the same reasons why AAD has been continuously doing and promises to intensify initiatives and information drives to educate several communities, to combat this rampant misunderstanding, and to mitigate the impact of dengue. In the country, Department of Health (DOH) and Mercury Drug Corporation partnered with Philippine Pharmacists Association in the members of AAD to provide their expertise in support of these programs.

May these numbers serve as an eye-opener to us. We may not have participated in it, but we know for sure in which part of the population we belong. The key learning I would like to impart from this is how we manage it when we’re faced with the situation. Trust your instinct. Calpol, a paracetamol brand, is doctor-recommended and proven safe and efficient in relieving pain and fever among our children who are most vulnerable to the disease. Let’s be dengue warriors!

If you want to know more about Calpol and its dengue campaign, you can visit www.calpol.com.ph and like their Facebook page.

Bullying as a phenomenon is the absence of understanding, support, compassion, empathy, kindness and fulfillment.

Nowadays, bullying became general in the society especially in our youth and there’s no escape from the harsh words that others can throw us. It is very unfortunate that bullying is existing everywhere - in school, home and above all, in social media. A study reports that 1 out 2 Filipino students have experienced or witnessed bullying in their schools. It has also taken a new form especially with the advent of social media as it provides a more convenient avenue to spread hate and thrive on people’s insecurities.

Personally, I understand and relate how hurtful it was to be mocked and insulted when I was in grade school. The effect of simple words carved in my heart and it’s hard to regain trust self-confidence.

This is the reason why I didn’t even think twice to support the #IAmDifferent campaign of Penshoppe, wherein they empower and celebrate today’s youth differences and uniqueness.

Penshoppe Brand Director Jeff Bascon

Penshoppe’s #IAmDifferent campaign aims to form a movement to inspire everyone to embrace who they are despite what other people may think and believe that “Being different is something to celebrate and be proud of.”

With the help of international brand ambassadors Bella Hadid, Lucky Blue Smith, Kaia Gerber, and Sandara Park among many other big names, Penshoppe brings its focus to the widespread issue of bullying plaguing the Filipino youth.

and “Different is good”.

Each t-shirt from the limited edition #IAmDifferent collection features construction from luxe fabric and with a special identifier: a unique serial number. The movement has already started on social media, with a growing number of posts tagged by ClubPenshoppePH members and other local personalities.

Proceeds from the #IAmDifferent collection will benefit development of a module that discourages bullying and encourages acceptance in public school children, in partnership with Teach For The Philippines. They aim to provide excellent education by most promising young leaders. It advocates to transform its leaders into lifelong passion for education equity and opportunity in expanding educational access.
