Merry Cremas Festival 2014

Alaska, along with Asian Food Channel and Food Network Asia, held its Merry Cremas Festival at Eastwood City Mall Park. The festival is a gathering of 22 different food vendors.
‘Tis the seasons of giving, so Alaska held this event FREE for everybody. That’s right, all you had to do was be there!

All you had to do was register and you will be given a passport to enjoy FREE food samples. Also, people who registered as a mom received a loot bag filled with Alaska products which will be perfect to use this coming Noche Buena.
What made this event much more exciting was the judging part. Yes, I was one of the judges, which means I got to try every single food item in the event. Woe is I. But really, I am not complaining at all.
To be fair, I walked around and tried every food that was offered. I scored them based on the use of the cream, presentation, and of course, what makes my tummy the happiest.

The participating booths for the Alaska Merry Crèmas Festival 2014 were:
Batter Up! By Flo
Blue Toque
Robai Nachos and Dips
Party Time Philippines
The Serving Spoon Manila
Sweet Fevrier
Sugar Babies Desserts Unlimited
Paul Calvin’s Bakerie
Popcakes
Nothing But C
Muchos Nachos
Manna Bakers
Kuya Pao’s Grill
Cooking Ina’s Kitchen
Gordita’s Gourmet Products
ChocoATBP
Cupcake Mistress
Cupkies by K
CUPPYCAKES by Carmen
Double Delights
Fun Ranch
Itlog ni Kuya

The winners were:
3rd Place - Cupcake Mistress
These cupcakes are scrumptious. The sweetness is just right. I could’ve probably eaten about 2, 3, or maybe 12 more of these.

2nd Place - Kuya Pao’s Creamy Pumpkin Soup

Hint of sweetness with a full blast of cream. I liked this one so much that I even made it at home. See below for the recipe.

1st Place - Blue Toque Strawberry Panna Cotta with White Choco Mousse

This was my absolute favorite! Winning First Place was no surprise. It was deliciously light and creamy. Panna Cotta made a classy winter dessert that was even made perfect with Alaska Crema.

The honorable mentions (at least in my book).
Cupkies by K Nobachake Supreme
This reminded me of the Graham cake that I used to make for my kids. It brings sweet memories with every single bite.

Paul Galvin’s Bakerie Malunggay Carrot Duo Cake
Unusual combination but for some reason it works. I have never heard anybody using the word “Malunggay” and dessert in the same sentence but Paul Galvin made it happen.

Sugar Babies Desserts Unlimited
My sweet tooth has been satisfied by Sugar Babies. Creamy and sweet, just the way I like it!
ChocoATBP.  Lemon Pound Cake, Orange Pound Cake, Tsoko Mint Fudge Bar and Sili Tsoko.
The Alaska Crema taste was very obvious in their desserts. You can tell that the all-purpose cream brought this dessert to another level.
Nothing But C Lechon Cake

I just thought that this was a very cute presentation. Maybe instead of dipping the skin into a Mang Tomas, I could use more cream.
Batter Up Moist Chocolate Brownies
“Moist” is definitely right with this one. They were not dry at all. I may or may not have grabbed a few more samples.
Double Delights Polvoron
The texture and the flavor made this polvoron stand out from the others I have tasted before. It might be the creamy, milky taste but it for sure does taste better. Also, the design, it’s very well presented, it will make a perfect holiday gift.

Popcakes
Lollipop pancakes, need I say more?
Itlog ni Kuya Balut Ala Pobre
Very interesting concept. It’s balut with a huge twist. I was amazed how this one turned out. It’s surprisingly very good.
The Serving Spoon Manila Meat Loaf ala MARY
I love love love this meatloaf. Probably a close second favorite of mine.

There were also fun activities, and cooking demos. Alaska Crema Brand Ambassador, KZ Tandingan (X-Factor Philippines Grand Winner) along with the Hail Mary the Queen Children’s Choir put out an awesome performance. DJ’s Chico and Delamar hosted the whole show.
Overall, the festival was not only deliciously fun but also a surprising event for me. It really showed that Filipinos are very creative when it comes to cooking. Thanks to Alaska Crema once more for putting out an awesome event.

BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE!
We were given Alaska products to take home and so I decided to make Kuya Pao’s Creamy Pumpkin Soup winning dish. This is an excellent recipe for pumpkin soup! My whole family loved it! Even kids will eat this soup! So I pulled out my Android phone and downloaded the Alaska Crema App. You can search for ALASKA CREMA Recipes, Ongoing and Future Events, Promos and Rewards!
