Alessi Spring/Summer 2015 Collection

When I got invited to preview the Spring/Summer 2015 collection from ALESSI, at first I wasn't familiar with the brand but as soon as I entered the store I was mesmerized by ALESSI's products and really had me interested to learn more with what the brand is all about.

ALESSI has been in its flagship store in BGC for 8 years. ALESSI is a housewares and kitchen utensil company from Italy. They make everyday items from plastic and metal, designed by famous designers. Each piece are unique and made to last.

The event was hosted by lifestyle blogger, Jenni Epperson.

Michael Harris Conlin, owner

 Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano
Luca Alessi, fourth generation heir to Italian design house ALESSI, and is also the company's International Sales and Development Manager for Asia Pacific, flown in from Italy to graced the event.
Ruth Floresca, Jenny Roxas, Luca Alessi and Rochelle Rivera
After the program, we were in for a treat when Luca Alessi tour us around the store and told us about the story of each collection. I can't help but admire all of the beautiful things.

For the Alessi brand, "Dressed" and "Dressed in wood" are two projects by Dutch designer Marcel Wanders with a single common denominator: a complete range of products primarily for serving breakfast.

"Dressed" is comprised of a series of versatile accessories suitable for all occasions: a cup and spoon with opener, a latte macchiato spoon, a butter knife, a series of kitchen boxes and a biscuit box.

Meanwhile, the elements that make up the "Dressed in wood" collection are made from beech wood:

a breakfast board, a serving board, two trays, a cheese board, cake stand, a lid and a centerpiece.

Doriana and Massimiliano Fuksas complete the "Colombina collection" cutlery set with new pieces of cutlery specifically designed to prepare and serve fish-based dishes.
The successful 2013 project designed by young Australian designer Adam Cornish becomes a family:

the "Trinity" centerpiece is joined by a basket, a fruit holder and a citrus basket.

Pierre Charpin adds two new variants to the basket, tray and fruit holder designed in 2011:

the oval "PCH06" basket

and the new "PCH05" fruit holder in an extra-large version.

Gabriele Chiave and Lorenza Bozzoli have designed the upbeat "Cheese please" grater, a cowbell that can be used for grating cheese.

The 2015 collection would not be the same without a tribute to Italy, which will be hosting the Universal Exposition.
The new "Souvenir d Italie" project developed in association with LPWK, celebrates the richness of 'Italianness' with five decorative figurines.

The limited edition "Alessandro M.- Duomo di Milano" corkscrew by Alessandro Mendini pays homage to the city of Milan and its main monument.

This year, Alessi also celebrates- with two special editions- the 25th anniversary of "Juicy Salif" the citrus squeezer designed by Philippe Starck. This symbolic object is an excellent example of Alessi's role as a tenacious artistic mediator in the most turbulent area of realising creative potential.

Four new projects have been added to the "Objects-Bijoux" Collection

"Bulla" bottle opener by promising young designer Valerio Sommella. A bottle opener with sinuous line that can be also used as a pendant, "Bulla" is Valerio Sommella's first design for Alessi and was inspired by the natural world and shells in particular.
"Flor d olio" pourer designed by Marta Sansoni
and the "Chestnut" pill box

and "Buckle" tube squeezer by Gabriele Chiave and Lorenza Bozzoli

The Living accessories collection has expanded with a new work by young French designer Pauline Deltour.

The "Pierrot" coat stand is a furnishing accessory that stands out for its simplicity, lightness and solidity.

Designed for the Officinia Alessi brand, the "Opus" centerpiece by Guido Venturini resembles a piece of metal lace, obtained using cutting-edge techniques.

I spent quite a while trying to determine what some of the quirky plastic things are used for and I actually enjoyed shopping at ALLESI, all the stuff is fun to look at from stylish kitchenware and home decor items, ranging from elegant stainless steel teapots and platters to whimsical plastic pieces.

Check out the new collection and shop now at the ALESSI Store located in Bonifacio High Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.
