My Malaysian Expedition Day One

First of all, I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Tourism Malaysia for making me a part of the Asean Media Bloggers Tourism Hunt where I got to experience one of the best 6 days of my life and know what Asia Truly means. I must admit that it is inevitable to fall in love with Malaysia because it is such a beautiful country.
Like most tourists, my adventure started in the airport where I took a flight with Malaysia Airlines

I arrived safely in Kuala Lumpur International Airport last October 16 along with 3 of the other Philippine delegates.

Representing the Philippines for Asean Media Bloggers Tourism Hunt 2015 are Jude Bacalso, Jared Baliguat of Running Suplado, Yours truly, Rochelle Rivera and Sarah Tironah of www.fashioneggplant.com

Tourism Malaysia invited a total of 40 media and bloggers from ten ASEAN countries from Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia and our country, the Philippines to participate in the inaugural ASEAN MEDIA Bloggers Tourism Hunt 2015. With the theme "Fun and Enjoyable Drive to Experience Malaysia."

We were hosted to stay at Corus Hotel which is well located for travelers to explore the iconic Petronas Twin Towers. Just 5 minutes walk to the KLCC (Kuala Lumpur Convention Center).

Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur

All guests will be entitled to free WIFI while the clean and spacious rooms are fitted with a tea/coffee making facilities and a flat-screen tv with a multi-channel. The bathroom comes with a bathtub and amenities.
Poolside view from our room
We had an absolutely fulfilling lunch at  Dondang Sayang Coffeehouse (located at Corus Hotel) that combines the best of traditional Malay, Indian, Chinese and Continental food.

Must try! Rojak Buah, a Penang spicy and savory dessert and Pasembur at Corus Hotel.

During our free time, Sarah and I took a stroll in the city and enjoyed sightseeing and shopping.

Here are some of the places we managed to squeeze in for two hours.
Petronas Twin Towers is currently the world's tallest twin structure and fifth tallest skyscraper. The skybridge that links the two towers symbolises a gateway to the future.

Standing at 451.9m, the world-renowned Petronas Twin Towers is KLCC's centerpiece and one of the country's most famous icons. The Skybridge on the 41st floor doubles up as an excellent viewing platform of the city's skyline. Featuring futuristic glass-and-steel exterior and a traditionally-inspired interior.

Ms. Bianca from Tourism Malaysia was so kind to give us a complimentary "Hop On, Hop Off" city tour bus tickets to explore Malaysia's capital but too bad we didn't have time to use it so we just decided to take the taxi and he offered to take us around for 25 ringgit (about Php280 pesos).

First stop was a sweet experience of a True Malaysian Indulgence. A must visit for chocolate lovers!

Cocoa Boutique Flagship at Malaysia Tourism Centre (MTC)
Pusat Perlancongan Malaysia, 139 Jalan Ampang, 50450 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Open from 9:00am-8:00pm
They offer free samples of their chocolate flavors. I was able to buy some treats for myself and gifts for friends.
Some of the signature recipes are: Fruit chocolates, Herbs and spices chocolates and other specialties. It was sooo yummy!
Second stop was at Central Market which is a perfect place to buy souvenirs to take back home.

Kuala Lumpur Central Market is the place where you can get a wide diversity of high quality handicrafts produced by local craftsmen. They range from traditional native beadworks; traditionally hand weaved gilded fabric called "Songket", artistic wood carvings from the natives of Borneo to the vibrant and colorful "Batik" cloth.

Note: Enjoy your shopping and don't be afraid to haggle
I was able to buy a cute owl bag, skirts, keychains and trinkets for a really good price.

We love to stay here and shop some more but unfortunately we didn't have enough time and ringgit! So we went back to the hotel and prepare ourselves for dinner.

  7. Malaysia makes such fine chocolates and coffee. We have crossed Malaysia from Singapore, but only until Johor Bahru for LEGOLAND Malaysia. I believe KL is an additional 4-5 hours by land from Johor. Would love to visit Malaysia again, but via KL next time.
