Prevent Dengue DO NOT IGNORE! ♥

Prevention is the Best Medicine

DO NOT IGNORE THIS MESSAGE!

I still regret that I felt I was not extra careful with the dengue outbreak that is going on, so now I am so paranoid with what happened to my child when he was diagnosed with dengue.

After being bitten by a mosquito carrying the virus also known as West Nile Virus, Dengue as for me I called it peste. The incubation period ranges from three to 15 (usually five to eight) days before the signs and symptoms of dengue appear in stages.

My 11 years old son had fever for 3 days, I really took care of him with tepid sponge bath and tempra or acetaminophen (NEVER GIVE pain relievers with ASPIRIN or IBUPROFEN as they can make bleeding more likely

The temperature rises quickly as high as 39 °C with headache and he was hospitalized for 4 days.

The rashes on his skin became more visible on the 6th and 7th day that is itchy like ants biting him so imagine how hard it was. We applied Calamine Lotion which helps a little bit with the uncomfortable itching. He doesn't have fever anymore. His lips was very dry. He was being forced to drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration.

He still had mild symptoms since he did not have any of the warning signs like loss of appetite, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, bleeding and didn't need a blood transfusion so thank God!

While in the Hospital:
Avoid colored drink and foods (red and black) as they are observing the color of the stool and certain colored foods may occur.
Monitor Input and Output
Encouraged to drink plenty of liquids
With D5NSS 1L x 40 gtts/min meaning drops per min.
Monitoring temperature, bp, respiratory rate and pulse rate.
Daily Lab Exam

We did research on where is the possible place he was bitten by the peste or aedes mosquito, we asked the barangay if there are any reported dengue case and in his school but no one reported so you see dengue can be caught anywhere, it is not choosy girl, boy, bakla, tomboy I don't know about butiki and baboy but can have it. Matanda, bata, binata, dalaga at feeling bata can have it. Rich, Average, Poor, Poorita Zobel and feeling sosyal can have it so we need to be very extra CAREFUL!

There is no vaccine or specific treatment for dengue fever. If you think you are infected, see a doctor, rest and drink plenty of fluids. You should also stay away from mosquitoes for the protection of others. If you develop severe pain in the stomach, and persistent vomiting, go to a hospital immediately. These are signs of the more serious dengue hemorrhagic fever.

Prevent Dengue and Save Lives:

• Takpan ang mga lalagyan o imbakan ng tubig
(Cover water drums and pails at all times to prevent mosquitoes from breeding)
• Magpahid ng insect repellent
(Apply insect repellent)
Mosquito Repellent Patch
To use just peel the self adhesive patch from the paper backing and attach the adhesives side to your clothes or a location close to your body. (not on the skin.)
Citronella Smoke Free Mosquito Repellent
is an eco-friendly excellent alternative to bug sprays and mosquito coils! This oil based gel product helps to keep pesky bugs away. It is safe and easy to use around children since it leaves no undesirable smells and smoke that might cause harm to kids.
Electric Bug Fly Mosquito Zapper Swatter
  • Safe for human and pets, two external layers protect humans and pets against accidental low power shock.
  • Great for use at BBQ's, while camping, fishing, hiking, outdoor sporting events, parties, home or even just relaxing.

I think whoever invented it is genius, although it will startled you with the zapping sounds.
